Responsible gambling in Denmark, in English
Offshore casinos are outside ROFUS and outside the Danish rules that force casinos to offer limits. This page lists the help and tools you can still use while living in Denmark, most of them free and several in English.
Free help you can contact today
- StopSpillet: 70 22 28 25, stopspillet.dk. The Danish national helpline for gambling problems, free and anonymous.
- Gambling Therapy: gamblingtherapy.org. Free online support in English, including live chat and support groups, for anyone in any country.
- Gamblers Anonymous: gamblersanonymous.org. Peer support meetings, some online in English.
- Center for Ludomani: ludomani.dk. Treatment in Denmark for people with a gambling problem and their families.
ROFUS and why it does not reach offshore casinos
ROFUS is the Danish register of voluntarily excluded players. Once registered, you are blocked at every casino and betting site with a Danish licence, for 24 hours, a month, three months, six months or permanently. Registration needs MitID and is done at rofus.nu.
Casinos without a Danish licence do not check ROFUS. If you are registered because you wanted a break, the casinos reviewed on this site will still let you in. We would ask you not to use them during an exclusion, and to talk to StopSpillet if the urge is strong.
Tools that work on any site
- Blocking software. BetBlocker is free and blocks thousands of gambling sites on your phone and computer. Gamban is a paid option. Both work whether a casino is licensed in Denmark or not.
- Your bank. Some banks let you block card payments to gambling merchants in their app. Ask yours if you cannot find the setting.
- Casino limits. Set a deposit limit on the day you open an account, before you have played. Among the casinos we review, Spinjo has the widest choice of limits and Lucky Ones offers deposit limits. WinShark and SlotsVader only offer breaks, reality checks and self-exclusion.
Signs it is time to stop
- You play with money meant for rent, bills or food.
- You chase losses by depositing again to win back what you lost.
- You hide how much you play from people close to you.
- You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down.
If any of these sound familiar, reach out to one of the services above. Talking to someone is free and does not commit you to anything.
